Second start of the truck. Still no exhaust manifolds so sounds like crap on the vid. The popping at the start of the truck running is just backfiring thru #5 cyl due to a buildup of excess fuel. I had the truck running later and it run a whole lot smother after some carb tweaking.

Motor mounts are just simple plates to the existing locations on the block, and a plate on the truck cross member with gussets inbetween to transfer. Engine is solid mounted. Nothing fancy as this is not intented to be a show truck, just a good DD (as depicted by my pieced together cooling hoses)

Just need alternator, power steering pump, and exhaust manifolds and she will be ready for her first ride with the new powerplant.

More goodies for the hemi swap.

Picked up a set of 6.1L JBA shorty headers for cheap! (Brand new never used) Right now they are technically borrowed to see if they will work for my application, but if they do I just have to say I will take them.
Basically they are identical to what I was going to buy, but since they are cheap enough even if I have to cut them up to fit, I don't really care.

Motor swap is done! The headers didn't fit (would have had to cut too much frame) so I built some log type manifolds that are good enough for now. There is a bunch of wiring I want to clean up, and a few other loose ends but actually got to take her for a drive this afternoon. Did run into 1 snag where a pushrod popped off an exhaust rocker but 10min and that was fixed back up.
I can't really drive it right now as the tires that are on it are completely bald (I have 4 35" Toyo MT drag slicks, and they do hook up well on dry pavement), and I don't have any to put on it right now. Hopefully next weekend I can get a set off one of my other parts trucks and give it a real test.

Crappy but short vid. This doesn't do it justice, but it runs good!!

Not really a whole lot of skill required in my mind. I just have a rough idea of what i want and start building. I wish I could have a customer with deep pockets that wanted something like this built, then I would actually take my time and do a really nice build. But for just a driver for myself, this is good enough.
