Got my truck weighed today and with 20's and tail gate on i weighed 4450 lbs

Now with this weight the interior was stock what can i remove in the interior to loose weight

centerconsole and rear storage box

what else can be taken that can keep the interior functional

On the outside

i have a roll pan

overloads are off

tonneau cover is off that weighted 220 lbs

should i remove my body kit and sell it ?

my fog lights should they go or keep them for cool factor

sway bar is 29 lbs that can go ??? does it affect handling dramatically

just wondering or is the thought
:whocares:

Take it all off. lol

Look at each item and decide if YOU can do without it. Or do track only removal.

My swaybar has been off for over 2 years now. With the truck already lowered, my handling hasn't suffered.

If you do decide to sell it, let me know. I'd be interested in everything except the front lip because I already have the SRT bumper.

My main weight reduction mod is just to remove the seats and console and bolt in my racing seat. Instant 130lb savings approx.

I replaced my SMT-6 this weekend with a iEMS3. Should be good for a few pounds weight savings.

Not sure if its been mentioned or not, but the washer fluid tank/coolant overflow.
I did an Efan this weekend, got rid of the shroud and that huge pair of tanks and put in a small coolant overflow.....I dont know if I'm going to mess with getting a washer fluid tank or not.....but if I do it'll be small and MUCH lighter than the thing that came off.

is that full or empty?

i have taken mine off dozens of times, full it feels like 8-10 lbs. But i don't go to the extreme of taking everything off so not 100% sure i didn't weigh it.

Someone should tell them to remove the weather stripping too, that's gotta weigh at least 5#s.

Can you drag race without windows? Should take them babies out too.

They are pretty heavy for what they are....and the engine bay looks a whole lot cleaner with a Efan and some catch cans vs. those huge eyesores...so to me its win/win.

if i was racing someone for money and i new we would be close then i would start dropping everything i could. But just for me getting my new best time, i don't feel the need.

I can see the efan / washer & coolant bottles, just cause it looks better.

I dropped my windshield fluid bottle when I did my efan too. Thats not "to the extremes" to me. Thats me being lazy for 1 lol. "to the extremes" to me is grinding down something THAT STOPS THE F'IN TRUCK to run slicks. I'm still hooking just fine w/ my worn out dr's.

Front brakes do most of the stopping anyways.

I like how the word most is used lol.

I only need to stop whn I hit the brakes most of the time...lol

It doesn't matter to me what anyone thinks of what I do to get results.

It is the end result that counts, NOT, the method used!:)

To me, removing the rear brake calipers to run 15" rims and slicks is "extreme".

man you guys dont know extremes for weight savings, go look at what SX racers do to save weight

chad reeds mechanic drills holes in the finger grips on his gas cap to save weight thats like .00000001#'s right there man

tajm
07-21-2009, 04:11 AM
yeah but chad reed is a douchebag

sx has changed since when i was racing, back then you could walk up to ezra lusk and have a 20 minute conversation about hurrricane bob and now you cant even get close to them
