Trucks not running yet, not really working much, I have a TON of idle time, I was washing the truck, its fully of little dings, dents and such, paint is in not so shiny condition anymore, Im really thinking about sanding here down, correcting the dents and dings and going back with a satin black finish,
Just thinking out loud to see some responses

that theme has been a little over done...but when done right does look really cool.
i want to keep my shade of blue but i want it to look like it has depth to it...instead of it looking like a flat piece of metal painted o want it to look like you could reach past the "surface" and into it...like the ocean....but thats just my dream...as i havent seen anything even remotely close to it.

My rig has been half black for a while, I need to finish up the body work in the next few weeks. I'm spraying it flat black with POWER WAGON across the front and rear doors in big gloss black letters, then across the tailgate. Black wheels, headlights/tail lights, tinted windows, etc. Opinions?

I put a new hood on a couple weeks back. I wemt to Maaco for paint, wanted satin black and man what a bitch. I dont know if it was the painter, the paint (using flatner in the clear) or just because I went to Maaco but after 3 attempts, my hood is now gloss black... I had no idea a good satin black finish was sooo hard to achieve.

That sucks man, i'm basically using Rustoleum, haha. I bet basecoat/clearcoat would be hard to keep flat, like you said.
Old thread but John Deere Blitz Black is very durable enamel paint that folks have had success with their Satin Finish. Cheap at around $30 a gallon and $20 or so for their reducers.

I ended up using DuPont Satin Black on mine and for 3 or so weeks it was covered in mud and layers of water spots and it was all gone when going through the laser wash. Microfiber towels to dry off and all was good.
Just have to avoid any wax and buffing.

I thought so lol.
Recognized the grill/wheels/bumper but not the color. Far cry from the blue, looks good!
Thanks. I wanted simple but with enough subtle touches that it blends in, but alo stands out.
