I'm looking for a drag radial that will fit a 17x10 rim that's taller than 28"...

will a 390/40 fit a 10" rim? I know the manufacture recommends 12"

Also, how much do the 06-08 20s weight and how wide are they? Also how much do the 09+ sport wheels weight and how wide are they? and finally does anyone know of a nice lightweight, decent priced aftermarket 20?

come on, I know randtx runs that tire...

anybody got some ideas, I'd rather not settle for a 28" like the 325/45

good luck finding a place to mount that tire on a 10" rim....and thats ALOT of tire...really overkill...i know you want over 28"....but wow...can you not fit a 15" rim?

nope, nothing under a 17" without grinding, which I don;t want to do. I know it's over kill, but I love the look of a fat tire on the rear.

The factory 20s are typically 9" wide and weigh between 30-35lbs without tire if they're aluminum. If you want to run the 390/40 I'd suggest you do like Randy and have a set of 17s widened... For lightweight 20s centerline makes some that are pretty nice and very light. Other than that you can go to your local wheel shop and have them find the lightest wheels they can get (a buddy of mine did this)

Yea, I'm just planning ahead at this point, guess I'll have to call around about getting a wheel widened. I was gonna stick with 17s for the street but its too hard to find a decent tire for them. Thanks ben

I am running the 390/40's on 11" rims for my summer tires. I wouldn't want to go any narrower a wheel than that.

Darrell, does your setup stick past the fender?

No, but they are 3/4 to 1" from the leaf springs so these are the limit on stock suspension. I will try to get a good picture of them on the truck this morning.

Can you measure from the mounting surface on the inside to the fattest part of the tire on the outside?

Exactly 5-3/4".

Hmmmm, I need to measure mine and see if something like that would work. Sexy wheels btw!

I agree. I am ordering a matching pair for the front. (American Racing Hopsters)

those are true 390's? the seem so skinny...especially compared to my 335 Michelin....but they do look good.

It seems that M&H rates their tires on the total tread width if you flattened out a cross-section. I measured my contact patch on the garage floor (at 35 psi) at 330mm. 390 would include the bit of tread on the sidewalls.

I've been reading over on VTCOA and it seems some (including randy) are running the 390s on a 10 inch rim. That would be much easier than attempting to find a place to widen them for me

If your looking for something bigger than 28 I think its going to be pretty tough (unless 15 or 16" rim). mh makes 28"tall 17" rim tires r/t guys run em. 325/45r17

darell's setup looks good
