i have a pretty good idea how to set it up and i believe i have it right...but could someone post the steps to installing this correctly for 4* advanced? i fully understand the crower set where you just adjust the cam sprocket with the proper busing. and i believe the manly is just in reverse...cam at 12 o'clock and adjust the crank to the advance...<---put basically

any guidance from the have done it guys would be appreciated.

Yes, basically you turn the crank CCW(BTDC) from stock location.

Then when you get the crank back to TDC. The cam will be advanced in relation to the crank.

I'd suggest that you degree the cam in. Then you know for sure.

thanks...thats what i did...seemed like the only logical way to do it.

but i still plan to degree the cam, just wanted to make sure i was in the right starting point

well this is what i have...as it seems like the only somewhat sane way of doing it...if any of it is wrong...kindly tell me here or send me a pm...thanks

here is the cam sprocket with the arrow painted yellow to make it easier to see

here is the crank sprocket. i have been going by the number on the inner circle as i dont know how to use the ones on the outer circle.

here is the crank at top dead center and the crank sprocket at "zero"...i painted the lines to determine TDC with the head on.

now here is the timing set, set to "zero" or straight up...is this setup right?

now here is the tricky part....now i have the crank sprocket in the "advanced 2*" slot and the crank rotated counter clockwise to have the "0*" mark line up with the TDC line.

http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e338/viperkota/DSC00430.jpg

and this pic showing the cam sprocket at the 12 o'clock position and the crank sprocket set as shown in previous pic.

http://i42.photobucket.com/albums/e338/viperkota/DSC00431.jpg

now with the crank rotated to TDC and showing the cam "advanced" 2*. now this is what leads me to believe this isnt right...that looks to be ALOT more than 2 degrees.. so does anyone have any kind of idea?

with the cam sprocket straight up at 12 is the A2 mark on the TOOTH of the crank gear at 6 O'clock?Looks like you advanced it 2* but left the TDC on the 0* on the crank gear.

no

i rotated the crank counter clockwise to have the 2* at 12 o'clock to match the cam...but when the crank is rotated to the TDC spot...the cam seems to be advanced more than 2*. then vendor said when he checked the cam...it came it at a 115..im going to assume thats ICL..as what he has said they were built on.....

but i was going by how far the yellow dot was traveling...here is a pic of it in the same 2* advanced with the crank at TDC and the crank bolt removed.

now with the 2* slot on the crank key way and the crank at TDC...the 2* mark is at the 6 o'clock position..but as seen...the cam isnt

you need to set it up like a stock timing set, only instead of using 0* use the A2 marks.

Cam gear arrow at 12
crank gear A2 notch at 2
crank gear A2 tooth at 6
install chain with the blue link over the cam arrow and check the cam timing with the degree wheel.

viperkota, may I ask where you got your timing set and what it cost?
