My dad put a 3600 stall in the chevy so he's gonna put 28" tall tires... I think he bought some of the 295/45s...

Qdaddy I usually swap mine the day before and just drive to the track. But I dont like working at the track and it's only about a 45 minute drive for me.

be careful with those as they are bias ply......if you run a raial up front handling down the track can get a bit squirrely.

It isn't as bad as a lot of people make it out to be. Do it enough times and you forget about it.

these will hook good for me? even with my truck being taller than you guys? they only have 20 passes on them

and what kind of tires do i put on the front? is 22s in the front and these 17s in the back alright? or should i get slicks for the front too? or street tires in front or what...

sldhemi
02-26-2010, 11:55 PM
What do you mean taller? These will hook on a 500hp go cart

qdaddy
02-26-2010, 11:57 PM
my truck isn't dropped...technically my truck is lifted

i'm just thinking logically .....seems like a 26" 17tire wouldn't do very well when the truck is a good 8" or more ( guesstimate)about the wheel. i mean dang, my 32" tall streets look tiny in the wheels and they don't hook good at all.

It doesn't really have anything to do with the height of your truck...its power level. They will be more than enough for you. And no...you don't need slicks up front.

sldhemi

But your 32" streets are just that, street tires... When you get a set of track tires and feel how soft the compound is you'll understand. Don't worry about the size of the tire, yes it'll look goofy but they work...

My dads 2004 chevy has gone mid 11s with almost 500whp on 28" drag radials
there's a CJ7 jeep at my local track that runs 10s and lifts the front wheels with 26" tires, and it's got a 4" lift.

will street 22s be fine up front? or should i do street 17s up front?

adamsredlines
02-27-2010, 12:10 AM
The only advantage of 17s up front is reduced weight...so unless you're going for that last little bit....22s will be fine.

okay sweet. my ultimate goal right now is 13.99. haha. so i might end up needing that last little bit

I still beg to differ. I run about 12 psi as well in the rear and 50ish in my itty bitty front skinnies. Combine that with no power steering.
I have no problems.
