I know already that Advancing a cam will bring the power at a lower RPM but with a lower peak. And Retarding the cam your power will come later but have a higher peak. This is acheived by changing the incline right?

Should I even entertain the thought of having my Crane 216 Advanced or Retarded to get the most out of this cam in my QC.

Thanks

Jay

It changes the ICL (intake centerline), which is where the intake valve opens in reference to the piston... Lowering the icl opens the valve sooner on the intake stroke increasing the amount of air in the cylinder on the compression stroke, ultimately raising static(someone correct me if I'm wrong) compression..

To be honest, there is some hp/tq to be had by degreeing a cam, but unless your doing your own work and tuning it's not worth it. The crane 216 is a good cam out the box, it's got a good icl already ground into it... But if your looking to squeeze more out of it by degreeing it it's going to become a matter of trial and error.

I figured it was not completely necessary but just seeing what others input on it was.

I've never had personal experience with the 216, this is just basing off of what I see in others trucks... Hopefully someone who has/had a 216 will chime in and say what they think.

I just think that after seeing others with the 216, that it's very impressive and has a good powerband installed straight up

It should be a great cam for the QC. From my undestanding even better then the 268, which is great for the RC.

the 216 is a great cam the only thing i would ever change about it is the rocker ratio is was based on and get that lil extra lift out of it thats all i would do other words its fine

I would install it straight up unless you are building for certain power ranges.

More lower VS higher and vice versa.

advancing a cam is retarded...........

On the other hand studies have shown that retarded cams are highly advanced in nature...
