Well went back to the track tonight, this time on the 24s...
This is the first time Ive run the truck with the new converter on my street wheels, so this is the only true A to B comparison I have for the converter.
Last time I went with the R/T converter on 24s the truck ran a consistent 14.0 at around 95mph and couldnt get any better than a 2.0 60ft. Not to mention traction wasnt an issue so I was able to launch the truck..
This time I ran with the new Circle-D 258mm 3200 stall and I was able to manage a 2.0 60ft by pedaling the truck out the hole and it went 13.66 at almost 98mph. I couldnt launch the truck because it just blew the tires off.
So even with the same 60ft the converter was still good for 4 tenths and 3mph. Circle-D has my vote from now on!!

might be time for a new converter thats a very impressive gain but you also went from a 2400 stall to a 3200 if im correct

but i ran a 13.04 with the new mods and edge 2800 tuned and all i did was change the converter and ive gotten it down to a 12.73 and i bet i can get 12.6x before the TB and pulley

I'm not sure what the DA actually was but the temperature was in the 40s both times and the humidity was actually a little higher last night

.4 gain,,, after the 60ft. ?? Is it a smaller billet?
sldhemi

Yes, it's the 258mm which is just a little under 10 1/4 inches.
To be honest I was actually a little shocked that I managed to pick up that much. I was expecting a 13.8... But now that I think about it, the truck feels a world different with the converter. You also have to keep in mind I went from an R/T converter which isn't much more than stock

On a bit of a tangent, how does the physical size come into play with how a converter reacts? I know there are different diameter converters for each application.

The physical size equals rotational mass. With a smaller diameter converter/flywheel,, the engine has less weight it has to accelerate through each gear.

Driveline weight... Similar to putting lighter wheels, just results in more hp to the wheels
On a side note. Who dat bitches!!!!

So a smaller, lighter converter would typically handle less max hp than a larger one?

Yea it's the diameter, I believe the 245mm is around 9 1/2 - 9 3/4

No,, typically the smaller the converter,, the higher the stall speed. The quality of the parts and how it's put together will dictate hp. That's my laymen's converter explination anyway.

You guys are very close. The numbers are what the manufacturers use. The are a little off. The 245mm measures 9.75" and the 258mm measures 10.25".
