What are the driving characteristics of these new Circle-D 545rfe converters like? I never cared for the way the stock trans setup (i.e. stock TC) felt like a loose slipping POS. Will a higher stall amplify that feeling, or because of the reduction of weight along with improved efficiency will it have a more direct/tighter feel?

Are there any downsides to going to a smaller diameter converter? I use my Jeep primarily for street/strip use but because of the 4x4 I do hit the fire roads and sand pits from time to time. I am in need of a converter at some point, however I am not currently ready to buy yet. I still need to call you up and order that line pressure booster...

my circle D feels great, feels like a completely different truck with it. its very tight and feels way more efficient.

Ben, does your converter make the truck feel "lighter" when driving around town?

have they come out with a 3200 or 3000 stall yet

Yeah. I have a 4.7 and I wheel it from time to time so when a get a converter, I will probably stay at 2600-2800. I've never driven anything with a real converter so I have no idea what to expect.

ehhh, i wouldnt say lighter... truck feels "stronger" at WOT is a better way to put it, which can only tell me the converter is more efficient. if you like to go offroad i would stick with low stall, if any higher than stock at all... what gears does your jeep have right now?

3.73.

I just don't know what to expect at part throttle with a aftermarket converter. WOT is easy, around town I'm not sure.

part throttle for the most part wont feel much different, if any at all... once the converter locks up its almost unnoticeable

to be honest, for the money you'd be better off putting 4.10s in your axles instead. the truck would come out of the hole a lot better, and it would feel a lot more snappy at any given rpm. It would basically give you back what you lost with your tires...

however, a good stall would definitely net you some considerable gains so it really comes down what you want to do.

or even better, you could get a good converter and then just get a cheap set of track wheels with some shorter tires to get your overall gear ratio back
